[ARCHIVED] Commissioner Meeting Recap for March 10, 2025

County Commissioners

The March meeting of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners included a retirement recognition, various reports and updates, consideration of a contract, and a tax auction bid.

Sheriff Greg Seabolt recognized Capt. Brian Arrington for his 27.6 years of service at the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.  He was presented with a plaque and a clock in honor of his service.

Asheboro Mayor David Smith introduced Donald Duncan, the City Manager of Asheboro who will be sworn in on Monday, March 17th.

A public hearing was held to consider amending the Watershed Ordinance of the Randolph County Unified Development Ordinance.  After the public hearing, with no one speaking for or against the proposed amendment, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the proposed amendment.

Sam Varner, Wellness Administrator shared renewal contract with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. He shared much of the success with the clinic that is managed by AHWFB and currently, 95% utilization of the clinic, which in turn provides cost savings for the County. He did note in the contract that they will be adding part-time and full-time positions to expand services and meet the needs of the employees and their families.  The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the request.

County Manager Zeb Holden discussed Strategic Planning Fund grant requests and stated that the commissioners are still reviewing the requests. Chairman Darrell Frye asked the commissioners to consider tabling the appropriations to the April meeting, which was done unanimously.  

Associate County Attorney Aimee Scotton presented the commissioners with a bid for a property tax auction. The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the acceptance of the bid.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners is set for 6pm on Monday, April 7, 2025.

The Randolph County Board of Commissioners holds its meetings, typically on the first Monday of each month at the Randolph County Historic Courthouse (145 Worth Street, Asheboro), unless otherwise noted.
