The August meeting of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners included a retirement announcement, as well as several approvals for funding requests. Additionally, commissioners reviewed the Agricultural Center's policies and guidelines, as well as an opioid settlement resolution.
A few highlights:
- Retiring Deputy Sabrina Honeycutt was honored for 30 years of service at Randolph County Sheriff’s Office
- Randolph County Senior Adults Association’s Floyd Johnson requested on behalf of the Aging Services Planning Committee approval for a three-year contract for the Home and Community Care Block Grant; approved
- Deputy Chief Steven Nunn with Randolph County Sheriff’s Office requested approval for a School Resource Officer position at Faith Christian School, which will be paid by the school (10 months); approved
- Deputy Chief Nunn also requested to utilize restricted funds for the purchase of body and in-car cameras; approved
- Agricultural Center Coordinator Taylor Wright presented contracts, policies, and guidelines related to booking, rentals, and rates of the new facility; approved
- Associate County Attorney Aimee Scotton presented to the commissioners a resolution regarding two settlements for opioid funds that the county would be able to access; approved
- Commissioners discussed in depth the carryforwards (leftover funding from the previous year) as requested from departments; approved
- It was announced that Commissioner David Allen was selected to serve on the Rural Action Caucus Committee of the National Association of Counties
