[ARCHIVED] Commissioner Meeting Recap for September 8, 2025

County Commissioners

The September meeting of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners included a centennial celebration, as well as several funding requests.   

A few highlights:

  • Recognized Mrs. Blannie McDonald Gaines as a centennial recipient being that she is now 103 years old. Her granddaughter accepted the recognition on behalf of her grandmother.
  • Deputy Chief Steven Nunn with Randolph County Sheriff’s Office requested authorization to proceed with budgeted vehicle purchases, per County purchasing policy; approved
  • Deputy Chief Nunn requested to utilize restricted funds for the purchase of a K-9 from East Coast K-9; approved
  • Deputy Chief Steven Nunn requested approval for two School Resource Officer positions at elementary schools through Randolph County School System to cover the school zones for a total of five officers, which will be paid by the school system (10 months); approved
  • Agricultural Center Coordinator Taylor Wright requested a part-time position be added to the classification pay plan; approved
  • Randolph Cooperative Extension Director Lauren Langley and Agent Cody Craddock presented a comprehensive list of equipment for purchase through the Golden Leaf Foundation; approved
  • County Engineer Paxton Arthurs presented a list of facility maintenance projects and an associated budget amendment; approved
  • County Manager Zeb Holden reviewed the methane gas from the waste facility as leadership heard presentations from varied businesses and will be moving forward with one of the proposals. More details to come.
  • County Manager Zeb Holden recognized Commissioner David Allen as receiving the “Outstanding Commissioner of the Year” by NCACC.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners is set for 6pm on Monday, October 6, 2025.

The Randolph County Board of Commissioners holds its meetings, typically on the first Monday of each month at the Randolph County Historic Courthouse (145 Worth Street, Asheboro), unless otherwise noted.
