On November 23, 2023, James Ronald Corcoran, Jr., while confined at the Randolph County Detention Center, attempted to escape the facility but was apprehended by detention staff. Corcoran was unable to breach the secure confinement of the facility.
Corcoran was taken before the Magistrate who found probable cause for felony escape from a local jail and was given no bond at that time, but bond was set after 48 hours later in the amount of $10,000 secured bond and a court date was set for December 15, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
Corcoran was originally being held on a $5,000 secured bond for felony possession of stolen motor vehicle, felony obtain property by false pretense, and misdemeanor failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.
