On December 12, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to an area pawn shop in reference to a larceny. Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim who reported that he found a pawn ticket in one of his company vehicles where Jason Scott Stephens, an employee of the company, had pawned some equipment. The victim went to the pawn shop to investigate further and discovered that it was the company’s equipment. Another employee brought the box for the equipment and verified the serial numbers were the same.
Charges were sought against Stephens for felony larceny by employee and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods. The magistrate found probable cause and issued the warrant.
On December 12, 2023, Stephens turned himself in and was served the warrant. He was taken before the magistrate where he was served the warrant. He was issued a $5,000 unsecured bond and a court date was set for January 8, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
