On November 24, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to GardMax Storage Units on Beeson Farm Rd., Sophia, in reference to a reported burglary that had occurred at this location. Upon arrival, the owner of the property met with deputies regarding a break-in at the business and provided video footage of the suspects and the vehicle they were using. The victims were contacted and responded to verify property that was stolen from their units.
Deputies patrolled the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle from the video. It was located on Groom Rd. and the subjects were detained as they attempted to leave the driveway of the residence. A search warrant was obtained for the property. Timothy Coates was ordered out of the residence and detained as well. During the search of the residence, items that were located matched the items identified as stolen from the units. Coates was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony break and enter, felony larceny after break and enter, felony conspiracy, and felony possession of stolen goods. He was issued a $20,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for November 27, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
During the investigation, warrants were also obtained for Dylan Reid Stadler and Shanna Marie Smith for the same charges and incident due to also being identified as involved in the breaking and entering. The magistrate found probable cause to issue the warrants.
On November 27, 2023, Smith was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where she was served her outstanding warrant. Bond was denied and a first appearance was set for November 28, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
