On January 1, 2024, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy patrolling the area of US Hwy 220 S. conducted a traffic stop. The female driver was identified as Erin Marie Johnson, whose driver’s license had been suspended. During a consensual search of the vehicle, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. Both Johnson and the passenger, identified as Stevie Allen Welch, were arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where they were taken before the magistrate who found probable cause for their charges.
Johnson was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Due to pending charges, Johnson was issued no bond at this time.
Welch was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Due to a pending charge, he was issued no bond as well.
Both received a court date of January 2, 2024, in the Randolph County District Court.
