On January 9, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to NC Hwy 22 S., Ramseur, in reference to a verbal argument at the business. Upon arrival to the area, deputies located the subjects walking on NC Hwy 22. During the investigation, the male, later identified as James David Marler, who is a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of firearms. He was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of firearm by felon and felony carrying a concealed gun. No bond was issued due to pending court cases. A first appearance was set for January 10, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
