On January 11, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office patrolling the area of Langley Rd., Staley, was advised of an unidentified female walking in the roadway nearby. Deputies located her walking in the oncoming lane of traffic and expressed concerns about her walking in the middle of the roadway. She was identified as Heather Dawn McDaniel, who Communications confirmed to be a convicted felon. During the investigation, McDaniel was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of a stolen firearm and felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She was given a $5,000 secure bond and is set to appear in Randolph County District Court on January 11, 2024.
