On November 27, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Sharon Acres Dr., Sophia, in reference to a burglary in progress. The caller advised there were two male subjects carrying items out of a residence. Upon arrival, the caller explained the encounter with the subjects and gave a description of them and the vehicle. Another deputy in the area located the vehicle on Green Glade Rd., but neither suspect was located in the area. During the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle owner of the van had allowed Jonathan Bryan Henderson and another man to borrow the vehicle.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Henderson and Matthew James Jeffrey Owen for felony breaking and or entering and felony larceny after break/enter. The magistrate found probable cause and issued the warrants.
On November 30, 2023, Owen was located, arrested and served his outstanding warrant. He was issued a $10,000 unsecured bond and a first appearance was set for December 1, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
On January 11, 2024, Henderson was apprehended when deputies responded to Beckerdite Rd., Sopha, in reference to suspicious persons.
Upon arrival, deputies observed Jonathan Byan Henderson fleeing on foot and a chase ensued. He was apprehended near Staley Hill Rd. During a search to arrest, heroin and paraphernalia were located.
During the investigation, the homeowner advised upon arrival home, he located two suspects in an outbuilding that had been broken into. Upon escorting them from the building, the suspects observed law enforcement arriving and fled on foot. The second suspect was not seen fleeing and has not been identified at that time.
Henderson was then transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the warrant for the November 27th incident and received a $10,000 secured bond.
The magistrate found probable cause for charges incurred during this arrest for felony breaking and or entering, felony possession of heroin, two counts of misdemeanor resisting public officer, and misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia and received a $5,000 secured bond.
He was also served his outstanding orders for arrest for failure to appear in court on multiple charges and received a $27,500 secured bond.
A first appearance was set for January 12, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
