On January 14, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Violet Ridge Road in Randleman for a reported suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies located a truck in an open field adjacent to the property. During the approach, a male subject, later identified as Kelly Lamar Faircloth, was observed exiting the vehicle. Several long muddy cables containing copper wire were observed in the bed of the truck along with multiple tools including an electric saw. He was detained during the investigation. During the search of his person, multiple used electric saw blades were located. During the search of his vehicle, a firearm and additional tools were located. Faircloth is a convicted felon.
Representatives of the business responded to inspect their property with the deputy. Muddy footprints were observed on top of a piece of equipment, as well as footprints on the ground around the equipment. They also discovered a section of the perimeter fencing had been cut a short distance away from where Faircloth’s truck was parked. Evidence was collected.
Following the investigation, Faircloth was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony larceny, felony injury to property obtain nonferrous metals, misdemeanor first-degree trespass, and misdemeanor injury to real property. He was given a $20,000 total secured bond and a first appearance was set for January 16, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
