On December 22, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Tobacco Rd., Trinity, in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, the victims reported a male subject was inside their residence when they had arrived but fled quickly when confronted. They were able to provide information and a description of the subject. After further investigation, the victims determined items were also missing from the residence. A K9 responded and was deployed in an effort to locate the subject or items that had been taken. A black backpack believed to have been discarded by the suspect while fleeing the area was located. They were unsuccessful in locating the male at that time.
Following their investigation, charges were sought against Matthew Allen Watson for felony breaking and entering, felony possession of stolen goods, and felony larceny after breaking and entering. The magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant. Subsequent efforts to locate Watson were unfruitful.
On February 3, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Reddy Foxx Ln., Thomasville, in reference to a reported burglary. Upon arrival, the victim reported observing that the door of the residence had been pried open from the outside. Upon entry a male subject, identified as Matthew Allen Watson, was located. Watson was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor breaking or entering and issued a criminal summons to appear in Randolph County District Court on February 12, 2024.
He was served the outstanding warrant for arrest from the December incident and bond was denied. He was also served his outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear. He was issued a $2,000 secured bond for it. A first appearance was set for February 5, 2024, in Randolph County District Court for the outstanding processes.
