On February 5, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Green Glade Rd. in reference to an armed person. The caller stated that a male subject, identified as Joshua Dean Hughes, was armed with a baseball bat and was damaging his property and threatening him. Hughes is known by the victim. Upon arrival, Hughes had already left the area. Deputies observed the damage, collected evidence and met with the victim to gather information. A witness was able to provide additional information.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Hughes and the magistrate found probable cause for felony break and or enter with intent to terrorize, felony larceny after break and enter, misdemeanor communicating threats, misdemeanor injury to real property, and misdemeanor injury to personal property and issued a warrant for arrest.
On February 6, 2024, Hughes was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the warrant. He was issued a $40,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 7, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
