On September 20, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Adams Farm Rd., Randleman, in reference to a vehicle fire. The Randolph County Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to conduct their investigation, concluding that the fire was intentionally set. Evidence was collected.
Following an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against the vehicle owner, Jodean Marie Stillwell, for felony insurance fraud, felony burning personal property, and felony attempt to obtain property by false pretense. The magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On February 20, 2024, Stillwell turned herself in at the Randolph County Detention Center where she was taken into custody and served her outstanding warrant. The magistrate issued a $50,000 unsecured bond and a first appearance was set for February 21, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
