On March 5, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Wicker Lovell Rd., Randleman, in reference to a discharging firearms call. There were numerous callers for the incident with one reporting someone had fired shots into their home from a white four-door vehicle driving by. Upon arrival, deputies began an investigation, locating ammunition casings along the roadway. Crime Scene Investigations and Criminal Investigations Division responded to collect evidence and investigate further.
The suspect vehicle was reported to be at a residence on Whites Memorial Rd. Upon further investigation, the vehicle was confirmed to be the one involved in the Wicker Lovell Rd. incident.
Following the investigation, warrants were obtained for Matthew Kelly Flinchum and Charles Edman Moran, Jr. for felony discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling/moving vehicle and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. Both were arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where they were served their warrants. Flinchum received a $75,000 secured bond and Moran received a $100,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for March 6, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be forthcoming.
