On May 31, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Edwards Farm Rd., Ramseur, in reference to a reported trespassing. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male subject, later confirmed to be Charles Christopher Cockman, standing in front of an entrance door to the residence. Cockman had been served a domestic violence protective order and was not allowed to be on the property. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. Upon a secondary search during the booking process, methamphetamine was located. The magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine and felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises. The magistrate issued a 48-hour hold for the violation of the domestic violence protective order. A first appearance was set for June 3, 2024, at the Randolph County District Court.
