On June 6, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Back Creed Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a burglary-in-progress. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male matching the suspect’s description walking in the roadway near the residence. He was identified as Ricky Francis Froneberger, who was detained during the investigation. It was determined that Froneberger had forced his way inside a residence and assaulted the resident, but exited and walked away from the residence when he was met by the victim’s dog inside the residence.
Following the investigation, he was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony assault on individual with a disability, felony break/enter to terrorize or injure, and misdemeanor communicating threats. He was issued a $15,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for June 7, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
