On September 10, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a possible fraud. Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Kevin Wayne Whitesell for two counts of felony identity theft, felony financial card theft, felony attempt to obtain property by false pretense, felony obtain property by false pretense, and misdemeanor financial card fraud. The magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
Whitesell, currently confined in the Randolph County Detention Center on unrelated charges was served the warrant on October 15, 2024. The magistrate issued a $50,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for October 16, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
