The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Detective learned that registered sex offender Kirby Lee Kennedy was released from prison on October 5, 2024. Kennedy was last registered in Randolph County. NC law requires that a sex offender must report to the last registering Sheriff no later than 10 days after release from confinement. Kennedy had failed to appear and register.
Charges were sought against Kennedy for felony fail to register after confinement.
On October 24, 2024, he was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the warrant. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for October 25, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
