On October 28, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to US Hwy 421 near mile marker 181 in Staley in reference to a fight in progress. Randolph Communications determined the incident began at a residence in Randolph County Sheriff’s Office’s jurisdiction before the subjects departed the residence in a vehicle. Due to the nature of the incident now occurring in a moving vehicle, Liberty Police Department Officers responded to assist and made the first contact with the vehicle in question. Officers had detained the driver, identified as Quame Richmond Greene, and cited him with failure to heed Blue Lights and Sirens and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked Drivers License before the arrival of deputies.
Following the investigation by patrol deputies, Greene, and the passenger, identified as Audrey Nicole Mason, were both transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause, as follows:
Greene: felony assault by strangulation, felony second-degree kidnapping, and misdemeanor assault on a female.
Mason: misdemeanor simple assault.
The magistrate denied a bond for both due to the charges being domestic in nature and a first appearance was set for October 29, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
