On July 29, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible sex offense upon a minor. Following an investigation of the allegations, Criminal Investigation Detectives sought charges against Derek Robert Underwood for three counts of felony indecent liberties with a child. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
On November 14, 2024, Underwood was located by the Criminal Apprehension Team, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served the warrant. The magistrate issued a $100,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for November 15, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
