On September 29, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was advised that Joseph John Iannarone, a registered sex offender, had pending warrants out of Texas. Randolph Communications confirmed the warrants and that Texas was willing to extradite Iannarone. Iannarone was currently confined in the Randolph County Detention Center on charges out of Mecklenburg County for second-degree sex exploitation of a minor and a $200,000 secured bond. He was served the fugitive warrant from Texas for five counts of felony possession with intent to promote child pornography. No bond was issued and a first appearance was held on September 30, 2024. At his first appearance, the judge set his bond at $5,000,000 secured plus EHA.
Upon receipt of the Governor's Warrant for extradition, he was served on November 20, 2024, while still confined at the Randolph County Detention Center. He is now awaiting extradition to Texas.
