On December 19, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Bennett Farm Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a burglary call for service. Upon arrival, the victim provided information and evidence was collected. Following the investigation, charges were sought against Steven Garrett Garner for felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, misdemeanor injury to real and personal property, and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant.
On January 17, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the same address in reference to Garner returning to the property. Before law enforcement’s arrival, Garner left the address. Deputies located the vehicle he was driving and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Oak View Lane and Seagrove Plank Road. The NC registration plate displayed on the back of the vehicle had been reported stolen and Communications also confirmed Garner's NC driver's license status was revoked.
During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located. Garner was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for controlled substances, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of stolen property, driving while license revoked, displaying fictitious registration plate, and failure to maintain lane control. He was also served his outstanding warrant. He was issued no bond due to currently being released on bond and a first appearance was set for January 21, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
