On August 24, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Walter Meadows Rd., Randleman, in reference to a fraud incident.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Helen Hackett Small for felony obtaining property by false pretense >=$100,000, felony exploit disable/elder trust, and misdemeanor breaking or entering. The magistrate found probable cause to issue warrants for arrest.
On January 23, 2024, the Criminal Apprehension Team located Small, arrested, and transported her to the Randolph County Detention Center, where she was served her warrants and issued a $50,100 total secured bond. A first appearance was set for January 24, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
