On January 13, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Monterey Rd and New Hope Church Rd., Asheboro, in reference to larceny of cable. During the investigation, the owner of the wire/cable was able to view the wire that had been seized the day before and determined that same was indeed the wire cut from this location as well as the previously reported location.
Following this investigation, charges were sought on February 6, 2025, for four counts of felony injured property obtaining nonferrous metal, and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant. Elliott, still confined in the Detention Center, was served this warrant and received an additional $4,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for February 10, 2025.

On January 12, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to 220 Bus. S. and Hawthorne Dr., Asheboro, in reference to a possible larceny in the area. Deputies located the vehicle given in the description on Dublin Dr. and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Michael Everett Elliott. The vehicle had an inspection and registration violation. He was cited for the Chapter 20 violations and was given a court date of February 14, 2025, in Randolph District Court.
During the investigation, deputies observed several roles of telephone wire, equipment, and tools in plain sight in the attached trailer. The Sheriff’s Office had received several reports in the area for the larceny of similar wire over the previous week. Items were seized for further investigation and Elliott was placed under arrest due to the evidence that was located. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony larceny on nonferrous metals, He was issued a $7,500 secured bond. A first appearance was set for January 13, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
