On February 26, 2025, while investigating an unrelated incident, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputies went door to door on Wedgwood Terrace, Trinity, to see if anyone could provide any information related to the earlier incident.
Upon approach to one of the homes, deputies observed the front and back doors standing wide open. Additional units responded. and they began giving loud verbal commands in an attempt to see if anyone would exit the house. After no response, they looked into the residence and saw a female, later identified as Jessica Annette Self Yates, who appeared unconscious sitting on the couch. They entered the residence to check her welfare and were able to wake her. While waiting for Randolph County EMS and Fire to respond for evaluation, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located near her. She was advised that a warrant would be issued at a later time.
Following an investigation, charges were sought against Jessica Annette Self Yates for felony trafficking, opium or heroin, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause and issued the warrant.
On March 4, 2025, Yates was located during a traffic stop and taken into custody.
During a subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. The driver, identified as Brandon Lee Buck, was also placed under arrest. They were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges against both Buck and Yates for felony possession of Schedule I controlled substance, felony possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Buck was also charged with driving while license revoked. He was given a $2,000 secure bond and was set to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 5, 2025. Yates was also served her outstanding Warrant related to February 26th and an Order for Arrest. She was given a $18,000 total secure bond and a first appearance was set for March 5, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
