On February 3, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of potential child abuse that had taken place on US Highway 64 East, Ramseur.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division Detectives, charges were sought against Jody Alanna Hayes for felony negligent child abuse-resulting in serious physical injury, and misdemeanor assault on a child under 12, and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On April 29, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team located and apprehended Hayes at her residence. She was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where she was served her warrant, issued no bond, and a first appearance was set for April 30, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
