On May 20, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old 421 Rd., Staley, in reference to a possible overdose. Upon arrival, fire personnel advised that they found the subjects unconscious in a vehicle but were able to wake them.
During the investigation, deputies located an illegal substance and paraphernalia. It was discovered that the driver, Carson Taylor Ferguson, had an outstanding order for arrest out of Guilford County and was placed under arrest. During transport to the Randolph County Detention Center, he appeared to be overdosing, and deputies diverted to Randolph Health for evaluation.
Charges were sought against Ferguson for felony possession of heroin and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a warrant for arrest.
Following the evaluation, he was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant and issued a $2,000 secured bond for the Guilford County process, and no bond was issued on Randolph County charges due to being on pre-trial release. A first appearance was set for May 21, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
