On May 28, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Gold Hill Rd., Asheboro, to what was initially reported as a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, Lonnie Wayne Beasley was located on the ground and identified as the caller.
During the investigation, footage from security cameras was examined, leading to the conclusion that Beasley was not struck by a vehicle. Instead, deputies learned that a dispute had occurred between Beasley and occupants of a vehicle parked in the driveway. During the dispute, Beasley reached into the vehicle and took items. The occupants were able to recover the items and leave. However, they returned and cooperated with the investigation once deputies arrived. While gathering information, deputies determined that Beasley was wanted for probation violations.
Beasley was transported by EMS to the hospital for a preexisting injury and was arrested after being released from the hospital. He was charged with felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle with theft related to the incident, and also served with his outstanding orders for arrest for failure to appear. He was issued a total of $10,000 in secured bonds. A first appearance was set for May 30, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
