On June 4, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 64 E. near Iron Mountain Rd., Asheboro. During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver, identified as Jennifer Ann Moran, and the passenger, Joshua Prestwood, both had outstanding processes and were detained. During a subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. They were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges as follows:
Moran: felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of schedule III controlled substance, misdemeanor no liability insurance, misdemeanor display fictitious registration plate, misdemeanor driving while license revoked, and driving a vehicle with no registration. She was also served her three outstanding orders for arrest and given a total secured bond of $11,050 for all processes. A first appearance was set for June 6, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
Prestwood: felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and issued no bond on this charge.. He was also served with his outstanding order for arrest and given a $50,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for June 6, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
