On June 30, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Woodfield Ct., Sophia, in reference to property damage that occurred the prior day. Upon arrival, the deputy observed items that had been burned as the victim described. During the investigation, the suspect, identified as Ashley Elizabeth Roten, arrived on the scene, and additional information was obtained from her.
Roten was then placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony burning personal property. She was issued a $1,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for July 3, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
