On July 17, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check on a vehicle and its occupants at US Hwy 220 S., in Asheboro. Upon arrival, the officer observed illegal substances and paraphernalia in plain view in the vehicle. During a subsequent search, additional substances and paraphernalia were located. The driver was identified as Tricia Lauren Cranford.
Cranford was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of misdemeanor child abuse, and misdemeanor simple possession of Schedule III controlled substance. The magistrate issued a $60,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for July 18, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
