On October 2, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Randleman Rd. in Randleman. The driver refused to stop and fled from deputies toward Hocket Dairy Rd., where the motorcycle continued on a trail. The deputy followed on foot and eventually located the motorcycle and the male due to the motorcycle’s mechanical failure. The male was arrested and identified as Nicholas Charles Gettig. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor no motorcycle endorsement, misdemeanor expired registration card/tag, and misdemeanor reckless driving-wanton disregard.
NC State Highway Patrol charged Gettig with misdemeanor driving while impaired and expired/no inspection.
He was issued a $7,000 total secured bond, and a first appearance was set for October 3, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
