On November 6, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Uwharrie Rd., Archdale. The driver was identified as Johnny Lee Russell, Jr., who had three outstanding warrants out of multiple jurisdictions. The passenger was identified as Jamie Lynn Kurtz Hunt, who also had an outstanding warrant out of Rowan County. Both were placed under arrest.
During a subsequent search, an illegal substance and paraphernalia were located.
They were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession schedule II-controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor fictious/revoked registration plate against Russell. He was also served his outstanding warrants out of Guilford and Davidson Counties. He did not receive a bond on any of his charges due to being out on pre-trial release.
Hunt was served her outstanding process out of Rowan and Davidson Counties and received a $3,500 secured bond.
A first appearance was set for November 7, 2025, in Randolph County District Court, for both.
