On January 6, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Reflection Ln. and Harmony Trl., Asheboro. Upon approach, a strong odor of alcohol was emitting from the vehicle, and an open container of an alcoholic beverage was observed. Due to multiple indicators of possible impairment, the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded.
The passenger, identified as Pablo Suarez Baldovinos, had an active order for arrest and was taken into custody.
During a subsequent search, additional open containers of alcoholic beverages, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located.
The driver was confirmed to have been drinking but was not impaired and was released.
Baldovinos was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to 1/2 oz, possession of an open container, and misdemeanor resisting a public officer for refusing lawful commands. He was also served his order for arrest for failure to appear. He was issued a $10,500 total secured bond, and a first appearance was set for January 7, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
