
In February 2026, members of the Invictus Task Force initiated an investigation related to a case referral received from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. During the course of the investigation, Randy Franklin Goodman Jr. was identified as a suspect.
On February 18, 2026, the Invictus Task Force charged Goodman with two (2) counts of Statutory Sex Offense with a child, three (3) counts of Indecent Liberties with a child, and one (1) count of Solicitation by Computer. Goodman was taken into custody on the same day by the United States Marshals Service and turned over to the Invictus Task Force for processing. Subsequent to the arrest, the Invictus Task Force, the State Bureau of Investigation Computer Crimes Unit, and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Goodman’s home in Kannapolis, NC.
Goodman was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate issued no bond and set a first appearance in Randolph County District Court for February 20, 2026. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Invictus Task Force representatives.
