On April 29, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Kiser Rd., Seagrove, in reference to the theft of two vehicles and other items, reportedly stolen between 5 pm and 9:30 pm. Upon arrival, the victim provided additional information and named potential suspects for the investigation. While completing the report for this incident, Randolph Communications reported that a caller was reporting an armed person on Bennet Road, near Kiser Road. Deputies responded to that scene and located Jessica Anne Chriscoe under the influence of a narcotic. Ms. Chriscoe, listed as a suspect in the Kiser Rd. theft, was found in possession of an item reportedly stolen from the Kiser Rd. residence. She was detained and then transported to the Kiser Rd. residence for further investigation. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered one of the stolen vehicles had been returned to the property. The victim further advised Chriscoe had returned the vehicle and reported the other missing vehicle was allegedly in the field above the house. Other deputies began to canvas the fields in the area but were unable to locate the other vehicle. Chriscoe was trespassed from the residence and advised of the same. She was then transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.
During the booking process, Chriscoe claimed she needed medical attention. Charges were sought against her while another deputy took custody of Chriscoe and transported her to an area hospital for evaluation. The magistrate found probable cause to issue the warrant for felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession stolen motor vehicle, felony breaking and entering motor vehicle, two counts misdemeanor larceny, and misdemeanor possession stolen goods.
Following the medical evaluation, she was transported back to the Detention Center where she was served the warrant and received a 5,000 secured bond plus electronic house arrest. A first appearance was set for May 1, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
This case is still open for further investigation and more charges are possibly forthcoming.
