On July 1, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old Liberty Rd., in reference to an assault that had occurred at an address in Climax. Upon arrival, there was visual evidence of an assault to the victim. Following the investigation, charges were sought against Roy Scott Cromer, III, for felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on a female and misdemeanor communicating threats for which the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant.
Deputies responded to the residence of Cromer and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was issued a domestic hold of no bond and a first appearance was set for July 3, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
