***UPDATE***
During the March 2023 session of the Randolph County Grand Jury, True Bills of Indictment were issued on Abraham Arzate Penaloza for felony trafficking in methamphetamine, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine and felony possession of a firearm by a felon.
On July 12, 2023, Penaloza, who was confined at the Randolph County Detention Center awaiting transfer to the Department of Adult Correction, was served the outstanding processes. The magistrate issued a $250,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for July 17, 2023, in Randolph County Superior Court.

On January 23, 2022, while on routine patrol, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy located a vehicle with heavy front end damage parked under the 421 bridge on Old 421, Liberty, and stopped to check on the driver, identified as Abraham Arzate Penaloza. Penaloza reported to the deputy that he had hit a tree prior to stopping under the bridge and was waiting on a tow truck. During a subsequent search, a handgun, paraphernalia, metallic knuckles and methamphetamine were located and Penaloza was placed under arrest. Penaloza was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the following charges: Felony Possession Methamphetamine, Felony Trafficking Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Carrying Concealed Gun, two counts Misdemeanor Carrying Concealed Weapon, and two counts Misdemeanor Possession Drug Paraphernalia. He was issued a secured bond of $50,000 and first appearance was set for January 24, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
