On May 1, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a local business of a check fraud. Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division, charges were sought against Daytreon Martaz Davis and Tyrese Malik Cassidy on May 25, 2023. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges as follows:
Davis: eight counts of felony obtain property by false pretense and felony conspiracy. The magistrate found probable cause to issue the warrant.
Cassidy: felony obtain property by false pretense, felony uttering forged instrument and felony conspiracy.
On June 20, 2023, Cassidy was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center and served the warrant. The magistrate issued a $10,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for June 26, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
On July 31, 2023, Davis reported to the Randolph County Detention Center and was served his warrant. The magistrate issued a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for August 1, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
