On November 21, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Quail Creek Dr., Franklinville, in reference to a reported suspicious vehicle that had been parked in the roadway for over four hours. When deputies arrived, they observed the vehicle parked in the wrong direction of travel, partially on the shoulder and partially in the road. Upon approach, they made contact with a female, who initially presented a North Carolina License with a photo that did not appear to be the same female and she gave a different date of birth from what was indicated. She was later identified as Kristi Marie Highfill, who had two Orders for Arrest out of Guilford County. She was placed under arrest.
During a subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. She was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate served the two Orders for Arrest out of Guilford County. Highfill received a $100 Cash bond with a court date on November 28th in Guilford County District Court.
The magistrate found probable cause for two counts felony trafficking methamphetamine, felony possession of heroin, felony maintaining vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances, misdemeanor simple possession schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor simple possession schedule IV controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor resist a public officer. She received a $150,000 secured bond with house arrest. A first appearance was set for November 22, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
