The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Detective was notified that sex offender Christopher Lee Andrews was released from the NC Dept. of Adult Corrections on November 19, 2023. Upon release, he provided an address on Loflin Hill Rd., Trinity, where he would be living. However, Andrews returned to Durham County to report to Probation.
On November 28, 2023, Durham County Probation made a transfer request to Randolph County, NC. Andrews did report to Randolph County Probation but never reported to Randolph County Sheriff's Office to register. NCGS 14-208.7 states that a person must register within three business days of release from a penal institution. Therefore, Andrews is in violation of the NC Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry guidelines. A warrant was sought for arrest for failing to register, and the magistrate found probable cause to issue the warrant.
On December 21, 2023, Andrews was located, arrested, and transported to the Davidson County Detention Center where he was served the warrant. Bond was denied and a first appearance was set for January 17, 2024, in Randolph County District Court. He has been transferred to the custody of Randolph County.
