On December 17, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident that had occurred on South Hwy 29/70 at the Old Thomasville Rd exit. Upon arrival, Guil-Rand Fire Dept. and High Point Fire Dept. were on scene assisting the victim until EMS arrived. While searching for the victim’s phone inside the vehicle, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. The victim was identified as Elvis Berry, who was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.
Charges were sought against Berry for felony possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a warrant.
On December 22, 2023, Berry was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his warrant. He was issued a written promise to appear on January 8, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
