On February 20, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on Covered Bridge Rd. and Hoover Hill Road in Trinity. While talking with the occupants of the vehicle, deputies observed open containers in the passenger side floorboard and also a barrel of a firearm between the feet of the passenger of the vehicle, later identified as Christopher Lee Edwards. He was removed from the vehicle and detained for officer safety.
During further investigation, it was determined that Edwards has an active Domestic Violence Protection Order, stating that he is not allowed to possess or purchase any firearm or ammunition while the order is active.
Edwards was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony purchase and possess firearm violation of domestic order and carrying a concealed gun. He received no bond. A first appearance was set for February 21, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
