On December 28, 2023, the Randolph County Detention Center staff located cocaine and paraphernalia in the possession of Essie Natasha Marie McKenzie.
Following an investigation by the Detention Center Detective, charges were sought for felony possession of a controlled substance in a local confinement facility, felony possession of cocaine, felony deliver cocaine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a criminal summons on December 29, 2023. McKenzie had bonded out and the summons could not be served at that time.
On March 1, 2024, McKenzie was served her criminal summons to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 11, 2024.
