On March 28, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Trinity Rd., Trinity, in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to the victim and observed where the residence had been entered. It was reported that a subject, known by the victim as Jordan Avery Rich, had broken into the residence. When the victim ran to a neighbor’s house seeking assistance, Rich locked the victim out of the residence and then fled out the back door and stole a vehicle in the driveway. Upon further investigation, the victim’s wallet and car keys were taken during the break-in. While on scene the victim received an alert that funds had been withdrawn from a bank account.
Archdale Police were alerted and they along with other deputies were unable to find any vehicle matching the description in the area of the bank.
Charges were sought against Rich and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest for felony first-degree burglary, felony larceny after break/enter, felony break/enter motor vehicle, felony larceny of motor vehicle, and possession of stolen motor vehicle.
On March 29, 2023, Rich was located in Mecklenburg County in possession of the stolen vehicle during a traffic stop and arrested on the outstanding warrants. He was transported to the Mecklenburg County Detention Center where he was served the outstanding warrant. A first appearance was set for April 1, 2024, in Mecklenburg County District Court. A $10,000 secured bond was set at the appearance and a court date was set for April 15, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
