On May 26, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on I-73/74 just north of Dixie Dr. During the investigation, the odor of marijuana was emitting from within. During a subsequent search, marijuana and paraphernalia were located. Johnathan Larry Smith was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession with intent to sell/deliver Marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for May 28, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
