On May 30, 2024, while the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was conducting a license checkpoint on US Business 220 N., a vehicle was pulled to the side to conduct further investigation due to the odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle. The driver, Joshua Daniel Ingle, and the passenger, Jessica Lynn Cartner were asked to exit the vehicle for officer safety due to firearms observed in the rear seat of the vehicle During an initial search, cocaine was located in the possession of Cartner and a concealed weapon on Ingle, who did not have a concealed carry permit. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, cocaine, marijuana, an open container of alcohol, US currency, and paraphernalia were located in addition to the firearms. Through further investigation, it was discovered that Cartner was a convicted felon and had outstanding warrants for arrest. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the following charges:
Ingle: felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction, felony maintain vehicle/dwell/place controlled substance, misdemeanor open container alcohol violation, misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to 1/2 ounce, misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $25,000 secure bond with his first appearance being set for May 31, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
Cartner: felony possession of firearm by felon, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of weapon of mass destruction, felony maintain vehicle/dwell/place controlled substance, misdemeanor open container alcohol violation, misdemeanor possession marijuana up to 1/2 ounce, misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She received a $40,000 total secured bond for these charges. A first appearance was set for May 31, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
She was also served her outstanding orders for arrest for failure to appear. The two orders for arrest out of Randolph County were each set at $1,000 secure and to appear May 31, 2024. She was given a written promise to appear on three orders out of Chatham County, the fourth she was given a $500 secure bond. She is to appear in Chatham County District Court on June 3, 2024.
As a result of her actions during the process, the magistrate held her in contempt of court for a term of 10 days.
