On June 10, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Kennedy Rd., Trinity, in reference to a suspicious vehicle that had been on the adjoining property. Upon arrival, the caller provided information about the vehicle. Deputies located a trailer with two mowers and other items on it in the field. They circulated the area looking for a vehicle matching the description given but were unable to locate it. Area businesses were contacted to see if any were missing equipment.
Later in the evening, Lowes Hardware of Asheboro called to report that the Greensboro Lowes location had reported the theft of two mowers to their loss prevention department. Their serial numbers matched the serial numbers on the ones located in this incident. They were able to provide security footage of the incident.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Jimmy Lee Dawson for two counts of felony possession stolen goods/property and the magistrate found probable cause to issue the warrant.
On June 17, 2024, Dawson was located in Forsyth County, arrested, and transported to the Forsyth County Detention Center where he was served his warrant. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for July 17, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
He was served additional outstanding warrants out of other jurisdictions.
