On July 15, 2024, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy observed a dark-colored passenger car driving at a high rate of speed traveling east on Hopewell Friends Rd. and initiated a traffic stop but the vehicle continued to create distance and a chase ensued. The vehicle slowed down and pulled into the driveway of a residence on Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd. just past Dawson Miller Rd. Two male subjects were observed sitting in the front passenger area of the vehicle.
The driver was instructed to exit the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, identified as Jordan Lamar Billings, outside of the vehicle, he refused to comply and fled on foot on Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd. The deputy pursued the subject while continuing verbal commands and eventually lost sight of the subject in a wooded area they had entered.

On July 27, 2024, Billings was located by the Criminal Interdiction Team – Urban Unit on Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, and placed under arrest. During his search to arrest, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served his outstanding warrant from the July 15 incident, his outstanding orders for arrest for failure to appear, and felony probation violations.
